Portraits at the Birds of Prey
Centre, Drakensberg
We arrived at the Birds of Prey Centre
with plenty of time to look around the flights. Lovely
owls.
A gorgeous
eagle ‘having a lay down’ and looking ‘cute’........
..........alert
and ready for the show.
A little falcon.
The falcon
is the fastest dive bird weapon.
Then I realised there were
labels.....The Lanner Falcon.
Jackal
Buzzard.
Black
Sparrowhawk.
Wahlberg’s
Eagle.
Cape Griffon
Vulture.
Cape Eagle
Owl.
A great favourite of mine – The Secretary Bird.
She injured her
foot in an accident with a fence. This breed is known for strutting and
stomping to find their favourite meal of a snake. Once caught in those huge,
powerful feet it exerts a massive squeeze and a vice-like grip until the snake
yields. This lady cannot do this anymore and so will spend the rest of her life
here. Currently undergoing training to be included in the show. In fact most of
the birds above we would see flying high and swooping, seemingly very happy and
fond of their owners.
A busy face with a great hair-do.
Walking toward the seating area we
passed a ‘very show-ready’ Sea Eagle, cannot wait to
see her fly.
ALL IN ALL BEAUTIFUL BIRDS IN
TIP-TOP CONDITION
A WONDERFUL
