The Elephants We Met in
iMfolozi Game Park
 Looking at such a
huge, huge area the question of seeing elephants seemed a big ask. So
very pleased to say we saw a pair in the distance, a lone chap scruffing about
and then a herd led by a giant of a lady. Every word, other than boring can be
used to describe these mostly gentle giants. Powerful, intelligent, comical,
loyal the list is endless. Strange that something so big uses its nose as a
spoon, is a vegetarian, can be so camouflaged in the bushes and grass but looks
like an elder statesman. We were so lucky to be so close to the matriarch when
she pushed over a small tree to get at goodies beneath. Then later, to watch the
herd move down to the river to drink and bathe. A treat, such a real
treat.
