Farewells Begin

THE WEEK OF THE FAREWELLS
Friday the 14th.
Jonas and Rhum invited us to dinner as a farewell
treat. We had never found Kangaroo las Mexicana's, the boys said we needed to
eat the best burger on the river so off we all went in Baby Beez under Rhum’s
directions. We all tucked in to the biggest burger meal ever. Burger, bacon,
cheese, salad, fried egg and chips on the side, a few drinks to help it down and
we were exhausted.
It is so humid and warm just now that
these blooms stayed smiling
We all had a quick pint on Monday and
hugged all round. Rhum flew to the UK for a family Christmas on Tuesday, we hope
he has a wonderful time, but don’t envy him the minus numbers on the
thermometer.
Larry, Me, Marlo,
Bear, Lady Mac and Lord Mac
kneeling
Sunday the 16th. We
could never cap Marlo’s birthday braai, so it was decided we would meet at the
Sun Dog for pizza. The Hundans and the Beatrices
order quadruple doses of garlic - my eyes watered and my lips itched just being
near them. Bear wanted to try a piece to taste for himself.
Face away from me in bed tonight,
please. On second thoughts lay on your back. But you’ll
complain about the snoring. After this that’s not all I’ll complain
about........
We had a wonderful offer to spend
Christmas anchored in Lake Izabal with this famous four but the temptation of
pastures new is just too great, plus the fact if we stayed here any longer it
would just make it tougher to go. So we made this our impromptu leaving do. Many
libations later..........
We had some fun when a local took me on the dance floor. This lovely lady may look about twelve but she is married to a lovely chap who took loads of pictures of our Salswith a handsome young son. Bear dwarfs her.
I’ve never managed to get a nice shot of Larry and Marlo together, so with a bit of persuasion – finally
The funniest backgammon game ever. I went hell for leather to get as many of my men in Bear’s camp. I managed to thirteen in total, and I had four blots covered. I then had some lucky rolls and kept Bear on and off the bar. The final throw for Bear to win (let’s face it, I couldn’t complain, I had had a good run). All he had to throw was two two’s or above. I cheekily wished for Bear to throw a one, well amazingly he did. Then I threw a double five and no one was more surprised than me. Bear said one or two choice words and muttered quite a bit.
Well then it happened, our local phone chirped. Braai on today as a final, final farewell at four o’clock. Everyone tucking in – Brian to a particularly ‘meat lovers’ dish.
We all had something else to celebrate, all being well Mum and Baby Tinson get to go home tomorrow. YeeeeHaaa.
Now we’ve always said we must always carry a camera as we just don’t know what will happen next. Never more so than when April (an American sailor) appeared with her carrot. Yes, it took us all back I can tell you. Even for us this was a unique event.
Time for bed said Zebedee..........
We said our final, final farewells.
ALL IN ALL – SEE Y’ALL DOWN THE
