Boulder Watching at
Bicheno
Bear saw the turning for Bicheno
Blowhole and off we went. We didn’t expect anything spectacular as we knew it
was low tide and the sea along the way looked all too benign. But, you never know unless you investimigate. Indeed Sir, indeed.
A handy information board showed us where to look and I was quite
taken with the Unique Kelp Forest out in thirty metres of water.
Well, we soon forgot about looking for
the blowhole, wow, the biggest boulders we have ever bimbled
across.
Huge.
Small, medium to
colossal.
A group.
Single, random sandpit,
four feet deep and three feet across.
Spot the
tourists.
Colours, crack,
crevices, so much to explore.
How wonderful it would be to visit on
a really rough and windy day, but one little wave showed willing.
Bear sat while I explored some more,
basically two boulders and a big stone between us.
Very rugged and not a yacht to be seen.
Thick kelp well anchored in the surf.
A variety of
seaweeds.
This rock pool had white weed
growing, a new one on me.
Finally, some
chaps bimbling about.
Meanwhile, people eagerly waiting by the blowhole – we have seen nothing in an hour...... Must join
them.
ALL IN ALL QUITE
SOMETHING
SO BIG AND SMOOTH LIKE HUMUNGOUS
