Sleeping Indian, Jolly
Harbour, Antigua to Team Tinson, Swindon
Saturday 16th. Yes,
I woke as normal on the dot of three but Bear reassured me this is fine for
Monday as it will be eight in the morning Swindon
Time. We had a bit of a lie-in, tidied and packed. All ready for
Lennox came to take us to the airport at one fifteen. Due to drop keys and see
Cathleen, we enjoyed watching her whizz up on her golf cart. Seated formally at
the dining table we signed, YAY for Cathleen and the team to carry on with
renting out Sleeping Indian. Handing over the keys we sadly waved and off we
went. Twenty five months sounds a long time until we are back for a holiday but
Please God, it will be after three months with the family in the UK having flown
in from South Arica. Between now and then we simply have to cross the Indian
Ocean, several countries and a few sea miles..........After a painless exit
process, we made our way to Scarlett O’Hara
for our Gatwick flight. Once taxying, we saw major
work at the far end of the runway.
Soon in the air, leaving St John’s behind on our eight hour flight.
One final look at the blue of the sea
and the coral.
Sunday 17th. A pretty sunset as I settled to watch the four episodes of
Bosch (new to me) and very enjoyable – the first book I have seen made into a TV
series (or film for that matter) that really feels like they have followed the
written word. Bear of course, kept me appraised of where we
are. as he followed the
information.....
As we approached Gatwick, we were
treated to a lovely sunrise. Landing around five in
the morning, we had plenty of time to pass through automatic Passport Control
before heading to baggage claim and head to the bus stop. One to Heathrow came
very soon and Bear said we may as well take it and catch
the next one after to Swindon (rather than sit out in
the biting wind at Gatwick as there is a big waiting room at
Heathrow) . I do believe that’s the first time you have been in
brackets, methinks Sir.... A hot chocolate soon revived me at Heathrow, in said
waiting room. An easy journey to Swindon, dropped off just around the corner
from Team Tinson’s house. There they were to meet us and after welcome hugs Mark
and Bear disappeared in the car with our cases, whilst Kate, Jack, Seth
and I bimbled home, chatting a million to the dozen. Kettle on, it was time for
the men to settle to Father’s Day. Glorious weather the boys wanted to show off
their football skills in the garden giving Kate and I chance to catch up. It all
felt as if we had only been apart for a few weeks.
A very spoilt Bear, sitting in Tinnies Tavern enjoying a Bishop’s Finger in his gorgeous
new tee shirt. Cards, sweets plus a lovely shirt and the first win at darts
which made Mark cross “how long is it since you last threw a
dart.....”.
ALL IN ALL SMASHING FATHER’S
DAY WITH TEAM TINSON
FANTASTIC WELCOME
