Soufriere, St Lucia

We left Rodney Bay at 14:00 for the eighteen mile journey to Soufriere. As we approached the Pitons came into their dominating beauty. The rock on the left hand side of the bay. Anse de Pitons coming closer.

When we had picked Miffy up from the airport in February, we stopped the car en route to Rodney Bay to take these pictures overlooking Soufriere.

Skipper all smiles

The town coming into view. A boat boy coming out to meet us. The mooring buoy he helped us on, £5 for up to two nights, not bad eh - Anchoring is not an option in this really deep bay. Time for a swim off the back of the girl, but don't close your eyes as the current sweeps you out to sea in seconds.

We settled for supper and a game of Upword with a double rainbow at the mouth of the bay. Saturday night is party night. We had two hours of Country and Western followed by two of soft Reggae.

We have got quite used to seeing chickens scruffing about on beaches but this was a first for us - pigs rooting around amongst fishing boats ???

Complete with beach front semi-detached pig houses.

The townsfolk are very friendly. The photo opportunities vast.

The Pitons make for a stunning backdrop

ALL IN ALL A VERY PLEASANT EVENING IN THIS QUAINT PLACE.
