Anapala – Freshwater Chasm
We had one more adventure in us, before we settled to Sunday lunch and a session on the beach - to find Anapala Chasm. We set out through a thick wood on a flat track.
The trees lessened, the coral lumpier and we found a steep staircase.
At the bottom we found a thin, cool, freshwater pool.
Looking down and up, this would have been hard work to collect water from before taps.
After the initial shallow bit, the chasm suddenly dropped to about thirty feet. Some interesting colours and the only company came in the shape of a lone catfish.
At the end, a dead end.
Back through the coral. Time for a long lunch.
ALL IN ALL A ODD BUSINESS
NEVER SEEN A FRESHWATER CHASM CONNECTED TO THE SEA
