Many Chores and a Few
Sundowners with Friends
A few days after we had settled here
to our delight, Scott-Free (back left) and Sheer Tenacity (back right) safely arrived. Sundowners on
Beez and on Sheer. Just as Beez was built in the garden by Brent, Rod built
Sheer in his garden in South Africa.
The beginning of the week saw Robinson Crusoe take a test sail
Then off he
went one foggy morning
Time for Bear to get to the growth that has happened over the last few weeks in La
Playita. While he was busy scraping below I went at the rust
on the rubbing strip and oiling the wood
support. Bears job complete I had to spend quarter of an hour picking the
trapped shrimp babies out of his fur before he was allowed back aboard from the
stern platform. Shoulder and back scratches from the barnacles and the backs of
his hands a bit chewed (no washing up duties from him then). Whilst my first
coat of oil was seeping in, I thought I would start on the dirty/rusty chrome.
Ten minutes enjoying the stiff breeze, in position on the Hydrovane platform,
other than the thought of miles of metal needing to get shiny, I was having a
fine time. I felt a nip, looked down on there behind the knot of my sarong was
nestled a wasp, having just aimed and attacked my right breasticle. I picked the
villain off and threw him, looked down and just to the right of my knot was the
stump of his stinger. That removed, I came all over wounded, poured a stiff one
and felt a win at backgammon could help. Constant slathering with Anthisan was
not much relief and the swelling became near impressive. Two nights later to add
insult to injury, I got a mossie bite in the same place. The beast must have
used the heat as a target. Now I felt really wounded and in need of a good
looking fireman with a cold hose.
Bear must have felt very sorry for me
as for only the second time in history I was allowed to join The Egg Gang, mine
was a little disappointing (far left) compared to
Bears beauties but he did let me win a few games of Rummikub as
compensation.
Bear took this picture of an attempt to get a mono-boarder up behind a dinghy, did it
work ???
A good start, then
no
After a smashing lunch in the Romantico the six of us said our
“see you laters”. Steve and Chris (Scott-Free) show
us the correct parking of a dinghy, Rod and Mary
(Sheer Tenacity) show us the dainty way to ‘move off’.
On
the other hand, Baby Beez is parked for the biggest
tide in history, Captain. Yes, but..........
No problem skipper, me and my now bruised breasticle can do this. We hump down
the beach, well I can admit the beaching has become very neat – however the
loading for the return journey to Beez is still a little scrappy with sand
flying.
Just
remember Bear, with your history, this is the only
road vehicle you are allowed
But this one has my name on
it, don’t be lipping me, don’t be giving me your
lip.....
Have you ever seen a one gallon
petrol can hurled with such accuracy
Bear has
Run Bear, Run
Bear’s plan for our next sail. A
whole one point nine miles away to Isla Chapera. In
reality it will be a good test to see how the gennaker will fly and what is the
least windspeed it needs to keep it full. (Gennaker with big bee logo, not seen
out of its bag since December 2008) – hey you cant rush a
perfectionist.............Don’t start me off
again........
Saturday we had a wonderful surprise, the arrival of La Chat
Beaute, radio chirped, off I swam to be given a big hug by Queenie and Paddy.
Bear followed with drinks in Baby Beez. We had thought to be gone by now, as did
they. What a lovely reunion. Tomorrow we plan to do a snorkel adventure. Sadly
too soon Paddy and Queenie will be off, turning right to head toward San
Fransisco.
