 Michael's Birthday on Kroko Atoll
![]() All the boats in the anchorage
assembled on the beach for Michael’s birthday. Gin outlined
the rules....................
![]() ......................for the
skittle-like game Finska.
![]() Gary led
off for the boys team, then became our scorer. The ‘skittles’ begin in a
numbered pack and the first person can just lob or roll at them with a similar
sized baton to the pegs. If you knock one down you get the score of the
individually numbered peg, if you knock down two or more you score the number
knocked down.
   ![]() Sarah leads
off for the girls and is disappointed, but early days
yet. Just look at the scenery, the tide was going out so the little sand island
grew as we played.
![]() As the
pegs get knocked down they go from a tight cluster to spread
out, standing where they were scattered to. The team has to get exactly
fifty, if you go over the team score is immediately halved to twenty five. If a
person misses three times they are out for that round.
   ![]() Gary was
very strict with his scoring and dare let anyone walk too close to his ‘score sheets’. At the end of the first game and really
annoying for the girls, the boys needed twelve. Bear settled beer in hand,
ducked, threw – 12. The girls pulled back with great throwing from Bev and Gin.
One all so a play off.
![]() Birthday
Boy Michael chats to Mike as the skittles lay in wait
for the battle........ First, everyone has to get another beer. How amazing to
be playing on a beach (that will be teeny when the tide comes in), a full moon
over an active volcano – it really doesn’t get much better. If only our family
and friends were the other side of the bay......... Exactly the same thing
happened, the boys needed eleven and yes, you-know-who stood, bent, threw,
11.
![]() Time to get the fire started and enjoy the
sunset.
   ![]() ![]()    ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A lovely sunset.
![]() My
Olympiad..........
      ![]() ....... as
fireworks and singing Happy Birthday for Michael brought more
laughter.
![]() Final light of the
day.
![]() Campfire
songs and happy chat amongst this group of friends.
ALL IN ALL A REALLY GOOD FUN
NIGHT
