Todays ‘happy picture’. I came on and enjoyed a really good listen as I near the end of my current audiobook. My little chap has had a hard life, frequent splashes and now stops, races forward or won’t turn off. I know what I need for Christmas. Huh, you’ll have to be a very, very good girl to get a new IPod from Santa. But, I am.......sort of........

So, we were no more than thirteen miles from the entrance to Bazaruto (then ten miles in) when we received the email from Des the weatherman telling us it was safe to stay out and continue on toward Richards Bay. Fred and Maria on Serafina were very nearby so we radioed our intention, they decided to come with us.

Fred has no iridium sat phone, so we will therefore need to relay Des’s route plans, he intends to stay close by which will be nice. During the small hours of this morning on one of his frequent check-ins asked if I “was his buddy” to which I Yehaa’d.

We had a pleasant day and the current helped us scoot along. After lunch I snagged another win at backgammon to much gnashing of teeth and growling.

At 18:15 I got to see a chum on the horizon, wow.

I so, so enjoyed my 18:00 to 22:00, usually the most fluky watch as the sun goes down, playing havoc with wind speeds and conditions. To say the sea was calm and blue, the wind steady and kind is an understatement. Twenty six nmiles and then happily to bed to rest. Perfect. Bear had similar conditions and read a good James Patterson.

Toward the end of my shift. Fred and Maria still close by.

Overnight we had eight to twelve knots of breeze, slight swell from the left but the current kept us at around the five knot mark. 130.7 miles in the last 24 hours bringing our total to 843.1 nmiles.
