To Maya Bay, Koh Phraya Nak
(aka Koh Phi Phi Le)
![]() ![]() At seven this morning we were ready to roll with the sunrise. Monkey
Bay quiet save for a local
fisherman.
![]() Ten minutes later we were off and
the first two tour boats were in
position.
![]() ![]() The Sunsail charter yacht (the dot to
the right of the first picture) is dwarfed by the
corner – we could tuck in tight to have a closer look
at the rock formations as the water is twenty five metres.
![]() ![]() Rounding the
corner and a close up of one of the
caves.
![]() ![]() The far end
of the island and rock falls or a stack that wasn’t to
be.
![]() ![]() More caves and overhangs.
![]() ![]() Stalactites a long way
up.
![]() We crossed the gap – a cute little hop of a mile
or so.
![]() ![]() The gap and the very sheer side of
Koh Phi Phi Le.
![]() Looks like a lumpy
saddle.
![]() Sunsail pokes their nose into Maya Bay and does a swift u-ee to anchor
outside.
![]() ![]() Tucked in on my
chartplotter and Bear’s IPad (which shows the dive sites).
![]() Quarter past eight and there are flocks of tourists here already. This
is the beach where they filmed The Beach.
![]() Piccadilly
Circus with long tails, power boats, dive boats and ferries. We pick up a
mooring ball and go for a snorkel.
ALL IN ALL A BAY NOT TO BE
MISSED
BEAUTIFUL BUT TOURISTS
