Baby Beez Comes Home After Her
Long Holiday
When Bear hoisted Baby Beez for her summer of rest and restoration, she
looked in a pitiful way. Her bottom was covered in the slime that everyone
collects here, the odd barnacle that had made it from Tonga and her old,
repaired slash marks were beginning to leak. I gave her a good talking to,
reassuring her that all would be well. Bear gave her a bath and she began to
feel better and was quite excited to here about going on holiday.
First thing, book her into the repair
man. Father and son arrived on the 5th of February to take Baby Beez away. Off she goes. A pit stop to turn her over. These lovely men
reassured me that they “had seen worse”.
Loaded and
tied down – off Baby Beez went looking a little sad I
thought, she smiled and managed a brave little wave. The chaps promised me that
she was in the best hands. After her clean she is to have new letters and a
really good, long holiday with several other little ladies and a few chunky
chaps.........Suddenly I feel a little jealous. Huh.
The next morning we jumped up. Bear
chose a piece of wood for Baby Beez new seat and I began varnishing it with many
layers. Then, off we went to Opua Canvas, there we chose a piece of closed cell sponge, drawn out and cut on a very impressive American machine made by Wolf.

The winter months
rolled by with our wonderful visit to the UK, our road trip of New Zealand in
Mabel and our recent three weeks in Australia. I have telephoned Baby Beez a few
times and even got a post card, clearly she was having a great time. This
morning how exciting it was to hear a voice I recognised.
We went racing
over. There she was, squealing with
joy.
Oh wow, just look at this little lady
with her new letters.
Beez Neez and Baby Beez thrilled to be
reunited.
Hoisted
