Old and New
Friends
 Today we introduced Pipp the Pirate
to the boys. Pipp was a gift from Martin, Kim, Oscar
and Jacob. Beds, Bernie, Bobby and Claude welcomed their new shipmate deciding
he would become Killick;s assistant, a full-time position that will keep him
close at hand to the Captain. We spent the morning unloading cases, clothes
stowed and Beez parts crated for the skipper to use, replace or fit in the
coming months.
 We sat in the cockpit for a late
lunch and took the time to play a game of backgammon on our pristine, new board
that the family had bought for us - clean hands and no food rule.... Our old
friend was brought out and fond ‘farewells’ to a very
ragged, dirty, faithful chap were bade, this board has seen thousands of
games over fifty countries...... Tough stuff but out with the old, in with the
new. I so so thrilled to win 5 2 (using my old dice) that I cheekily asked for a
second game and won 5 0 huh, I
should call a rematch with your new dice. But, I’m so far
behind you and I’m down on my dollars – only because we
haven’t had chance to play much. Well, long may my run continue.
Progress in getting ship shape and
orderly are somewhat hampered by our lack of being acclimatised, we flew in to
an evening gentle of twenty eight degrees but today has been a brutal thirty
eight. Time to get back to chores with Sweaty Boy and Jet-Lagged
Pepe.
