Southampton Boat Show
2018
![]() We arrived at the show at half eleven
expected huge crowds now that there is no longer a London Boat Show. No crowds
anywhere and no queuing to speak to the people we needed. Exhibitors all said
the same thing “very poor weekend but a little more business today”. Both
thrilled the sun was out but I was especially delighted to catch a chum passing
by as we left one of the exhibition halls.
![]() ![]() We picked up our new satellite phone
from Ed at the Mailasail stand, we chatted, posed for
a picture and are very proud to have notched up over a decade as faithful
customers.
![]() We visited loads of stands including
Hydrovane, again proud to have been with them for over a decade and watched
Will, the son of the inventor grow, marry, remain a fine young man and face of
the company. Then we found my lids, stretchy ‘thingys’ that can be used instead
of cling film, yet another practical present from my man...... Then we found
‘our find of the show’. I bought Bear a tiny 12-volt powerhouse that blasts cold
air, enough to part your hair in three places. You never know, Sweaty Boy may be
tamed and I no longer have to sleep in the shallow end of the pool, may no
longer sleep in a pool at all.... I took pictures of the happy little gadget to
send to The Scotties on Bear’s mobile, I asked him to email this picture to me
and the title of said message reads.......Cooling for
Hot Love ....................I choose to remain silent, so
silent..........
![]() ![]() That definitely
called for a swift run to the Guinness stand where I settled to a long time
favourite – Guinness and Cider. Bear had a normal
pint of the black velveteen to the tongue and coupled it with a seafood paella. At six we gathered our room key. I had
watched from last September and as soon as the Premier Inn released rooms in
December I booked. So, so nice to be opposite the main entrance to the show. Key
card gathered Bear needed to replace his discreet sized backsack for a
cabin-size case with wheels, so predictable as to not waste breath on....... so
off we went to M&S, Argos and Matalan. Returning via the car (moved from
13th floor down to 3rd) and Co-Op for bits for supper.
![]() Beds was soundo before the kettle was boiled. Nearly eleven
thousand stomps and our feet were ready to rest.
ALL IN ALL THE HUNTER DID HIS GATHERING
