To Old Bahama Bay Marina, West
End, Grand Bahama Island, The Bahamas
![]() ![]() ![]() The 'thumbs
up' I wait for that the anchor is up - on this our last move in the
Bahamas, this time the overnight, ninety four mile journey to West End.
Literally the westernmost point on Grand Bahama
Island. To time it right we had a lazy morning and left at half past one.
![]() ![]() The last tiny island before we
crossed to West End is an anchorage for cruise ships.
It looks a bit odd as they look miles from land, we also saw a freighter, nothing more, until dark when the horizon lit
up with cruise and container ships.
![]() ![]() We caught a couple of barracuda
(thrown back) then a smallish, young yellow fin
tuna, ample for one good supper each
![]() ![]() We had to motor sail as the wind was
not up to much. Then at dusk we had thunder and lightening and by dark we had
squalls. One o'clock in the morning of the 15th we had occasional gust to Force
Six and an average of Force Five. Engine off and we were slipping along at six
knots. We arrived at ten in the morning, entered the
marina as this is where we have to clear out from Customs and Immigration
and anchoring is said to be "dreadful". Straight onto the fuel dock and into an
easy slip.
![]() Girl
settled, Bear went to put a wash in for me, I did a few blogs, late
afternoon we went to explore.
ALL IN ALL A
REALLY MIXED JOURNEY
