Just a Handful of the Roses We Saw on Our Bimble Today

We left our digs and a few minutes later were bimbling along a main road in search of a SIM card shop, the air kept filling with the scent of roses, then we saw our first bushes. What a wonderful surprise, we thought that might have been it.

We saw thousands and thousands of rose bushes, not a single one with even a tiny hint of disease, every one pruned back each year and not a dead-head in sight. We would later read: The Chinese rose, a crossbred rose species, is the city flower of Beijing. Just one of the city districts has a planting area that if joined up would cover 988.5 acres. We couldn’t help but have a quick fondle and many a sniff, here is just a small selection of nodding faces.
