Our Arrival in The British
Virgin Islands
![]() We chartered in the BVI's late
February, early March 2003. It came about when our feet ached at The London
Boatshow, the weather was dismal and a bit of winter sun was just what we
needed. The other thing was to see - as a practise run - if this cruising
malarkey was for us. The answer was yes and on our return to the UK our ten
year plan was hatched. It all came about within six - here we must mention
and say a BIG thank you to Miffy as his joining The Royal Navy meant we could
push our plans forward by at least three years. So THANK YOU MIFFY. Also we have
to say that we could not have embarked on our At - Venture had it not been for
the overwhelming support of all seven children and their other halves. THANK
YOU. The huge sadness for us is you all cannot be with us each and every day. We
have a family album of our favourites which we look at every day. You are all in
our thoughts. This is the only downside to what we are doing.
So with as much emotion and
satisfaction as arriving in Barbados after crossing the Atlantic Ocean, it
was with great pride and a special tick in our dream that Bear hoisted the Flag of the British Virgin Islands. Well
worth me having to get up early from my shift to take this joyful
photo.
![]() As we approached
land we saw a cruise liner, not very remarkable ???
![]() and another one, but the one on the right looked a bit
special.
![]() The Queen Mary
II, flagship of the Cunard Line
![]() ![]() Her unique shaped rear
end. The shuttle boats look tiny up against her
![]() ![]() One of the
shuttles awaiting her turn against the QMII. Others
cruise ships tied alongside in Road Town, Tortola. We anchored in the bay off Customs and Immigration and Bear
went to do his stuff.
ALL IN ALL A DREAM COME TRUE
WONDERFUL TO ARRIVE IN THE PLACE WE HAD PROMISED EACH
OTHER AND TO RETURN ON IN OUR OWN BEEZ NEEZ
