Last of the Steps From and
Down to Cammeray Marina
Whilst we have been very, very happy
here at Cammeray Marina and the exercise has done us both so much good – it is
time to move on tomorrow. Before we do, today we have saved the zoo until last
and feel the need to share what leaving Beez for the day entails. Ten to nine – lock up. Take the sixty or so
strides along our finger berth, along the jetty, up the ramp and say ‘Good
Morning’ to whoever is in the office. Twenty more strides to the first lot of
steps. Just six, then turn right. Seven here and then turn sharp left. Fourteen to come alongside the sign.
The easy bits.
The half way mark then the
higgle-de-piggledies.
Up by the pipes to the parcel box up and off to the left,
then the killer bit.
Pop
out at the top of the steps, panting hard – we met a chap at the top one morning
who has been here for five years, he says it gets no easier. This did reassure
us a little, then he said “all the young cycling-cum-hard-men-types pant at the
top too, you know”. Now that did make us feel better. The next bit is up a slope to the far corner, first right is steep [to Folly Point roundabout – thoughtfully named] then
the next right is twice as steep – my least favourite
bit.
The next bit is a slope but you know the
flat bit is coming up by the parked car. Then just to what looks like then end
of the road, turn right and collapse at the bus shelter to get heart rate back
to normal. Each morning we have set off – trying to set off at ten to nine to
catch the nine twelve bus to town. Fastest speed, six minutes. Most times in one
day – me two up and two down but brave Bear had one day of three each way when I
first went into hospital. There is always more to see, especially in a city like
Sydney but we have given it a ‘good go’, I’m only about fifty blogs
behind......... and there is always an easy excuse to stay longer but we feel
it’s time to move, potentially forty eight stops over the next 1872 miles to be
in Cairns toward the end of June. And we know what we are like, keep staying,
keep staying, then a mad blast at the end always wishing we had more time. So
off we go on the morrow. Beez Neez is thrilled too, the naughty
cockatoos have eaten one of our flags at the top of the mast, killed the windex
and something went clonk on the deck just now............. up there asap to see what the so-and-sos have been up
to.
A BIG Thank You to everyone here, the
time has flown by, we have been made so very welcome.
ALL IN ALL MY KNEES ARE
THRILLED
