Arriving at the Midas Resort,
San Ignacio, Belize
Twenty minutes in a taxi from the
border saw us pulling off the dusty road and into the Midas
Resort. Work was being done to extend the office so we made our way
through the workmen and wet cement to be welcomed by a very jolly lady. As we
followed her to our room, she pointed out where breakfast
was served, “no other food here but the local eatery is happy to deliver
and well worth the phone call from the pool”. Bear had done well organising our
Passport stamp renewal trip - boy did good in fact. It’s
really a pink job, I was press-ganged into this and I want to hand the task
back. Yes
Dear.
We were led past a
great sink, followed a jungle path and were soon settled in our comfortable hut
Bear unrolled the hammock and out
popped our first visitor, soon followed by Rusty, one of the resort dogs and a
pretty moth
This chap loped
by..........
....................and up in the
tree, his big cousin
A closer look
showed this chap to be about five feet long and quite
handsome
Soon settled it was time to find
the pool. Paulo the barman, who soon had Mudslides
off to a fine art told us that “the main building was having another floor added
and the place was being built around us”. Not a problem to us, we can watch
people work from a sun bed all day.
Within minutes Paulo turned on the
waterfall, told us to duck underneath to find a shady spot behind. We would be
joined by people paying to use the pool for the day but we never saw more than
half a dozen.

ALL IN ALL A GREAT PLACE TO
SPEND A FEW DAYS |
