A Windy Stop at Shag
Point
We left the Moeraki boulders behind
and soon the road was running parallel to the rugged
coastline.
We saw the sign
for Shag Point – nothing for it but to investigate.
We passed a few holiday homes and
‘interesting’ residences, soon the tarmac became gravel and we stopped at the end.
We walked along the cliff path, the wind was biting.
Interesting
limestone and one lone, handsome
chap.
We watched the
waves crash for a few minutes.
Walked a little further and read the sign.
Grey skies
and spitting with rain, the yellow-eyes must all be out fishing.
The views further
south.
Back to Mable with numb faces. The plan to drive back to the main
road slowly.
Several
shags.
Several fur
seals.
Some high
up away from the sea, one all
alone.
He saw us looking and posed nicely.
We drove back the way we
came..............
.........and stopped to admire this beauty, complete with stained glass
windows.
‘One careful
owner’ in the garden of said beauty, what a view. Then back on the main
road and southbound.
ALL IN ALL SO VERY
RUGGED
VERY EXPOSED, VERY
