Purakaunui
Falls
![]() Oh to be a
tourist. Colour co-ordination and fashion get thrown out of the window
and its fine to go tramping in luminous pyjama bottoms. Yes dear. I best say nothing at this point. Ark at you
Mr. Slim Jim Armani. Seriously though, I don’t want to get my welligogs dirty.
Well put it this way, they sure ain’t going back in the
hanging cupboard with my shirts. Anyhooo....
![]() We found the
sign opposite and began our first tramp of the day.
![]() ![]() A quick tourist
pose on the bridge.
![]() ![]() ![]() Is that it. No, we
have to follow the path through the woods
yet.
![]() There Purakaunui
Falls – Happy now.
![]() ![]() ![]() After a few pictures and taking in
the scenery, I guess it’s
back through the woods then.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Very green and
very wet, too early for the sun. There’s a
first. Steady. Just
saying.......
![]() Well dear readers, this was the face
I got when I asked Bear nicely to go and stand in the middle of the ferns to demonstrate there size. I don’t know about demonstration, I feel the need to go on
strike. Wuss, there are no serious bitees, slitherings or bad bideys
in New Zealand. No, but it’s wet and muddy, I’ve not got
the footwear for it. Yeah, yeah, yeah......
![]() ![]() Posing,
then with flash to match your illuminating personality. Yes dear.
![]() ![]() ![]() Old logs, the path
and Rimu, dacrydium cupressinum or red pine.
The leaves are scale – like on slender, drooping twigs.
![]() Captain Cook made spruce beer from
the young branches to use as a remedy fro
scurvy.
![]() Guilt overcame Bear who made up for
his earlier three faults by posing in this handsome tree
fern.
![]() One final pose then off on the road.
ALL IN ALL A GREAT FIRST
TRAMP
VERY PRETTY START TO THE
DAY |
