Boris at MoMA

Boris Mikhailovs Exhibition in MoMA
As a keen photographer - Bear as my beautiful assistant we headed straight for the photography section in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). I have always had trouble with modern art, guessed we may be in for something unconventional and if there was to be a fusion between the medium I love and art, I wanted to see if I could get ANY understanding at all, we both did.
The biggest area was dedicated to Boris Mikhailov. Never heard of him, but that was OK, must broaden our horizons, in with an open mind. The photographs were huge.
This is the description of the following photographs: Ukrainian-born
Boris Mikhailov is one of the leading photographers from the former Soviet
Union. For over 30 years, he has explored the position of the individual within
the historical mechanisms of public ideology, touching on such subjects as
Ukraine under Soviet rule, the living conditions in post-communist Eastern
Europe, and the fallen ideals of the Soviet Union. Although deeply rooted in a
historical context, Mikhailov’s work also incorporates profoundly engaging and
personal narratives of humor, lust, vulnerability, aging, and death.
