Race Night at the George and
Dragon
As we walked through the
door of the George and Dragon, nothing could have prepared us for the evening
ahead. The track
Roger was very proud to tell us
he had made the horses, my immediate favourite was number five
We were in
teams - and of course the strategy was discussed in a friendly fashion -
at first, later things got serious
We have been to a variety of race
events but nothing like this, we listened intently as landlord, Neil gave us the rules
More team
talks and watching the runners and riders in the
paddock - form all important
Sonya, the
Landlady was in charge of horse movements. We loved the sensible
footwear
One dice is thrown
for the horse the other for how many steps he or she takes. Number five did really well - in the first a flat race and
even over the fence in the second
Lively discussion
from the team next to us, as the atmosphere
tightened
.
We were doing really well in the steeplechase until number three got a six, it was all down to the last
throw
This was critical for us, second.
Dice thrown by Kelly as birthday girl Edith looks on,
the crowd were electric
Sadness for our
team as we came in second - One captain to another in a
manly hug. Mark commiserating with Roger our team
captain
The last race was so intense, we were
cheering like mad as number five streaked ahead, then
out of nowhere number six brought it to an unhappy
end for us
If you think about it logically, why
would a crowd go wild watching six wooden horses 'race' along a table?
Easy. It was the best atmosphere and every bit as exciting as the real
thing. We had a wonderful night and came away about even having had yet another
new experience. Thank you to everyone.
ALL IN ALL WHAT A FUN
EVENING
TERRIFIC FUN AND A GOOD
LAUGH
.
