Wombat Orphans Feeding Time

We were just getting ready to leave Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary when a volunteer appeared with a baby bottle with long teat and headed for the orphan wombats. Mum of one killed by a car and the other mum had drowned but the baby survived. This lovely married couple settled to feed the babies and we watched, they offered us a place to park Mabel in their garden should our camp be closed for any reason. As soon as these wombats reach their teenage years they will become aggressive, not wanting to be fed or handled – at that point they can be released back into the wild. For now, they wanted their milk just the right temperature and only when they were ready. So cute, no words needed.
