A Solid Hour for a Chum to Overtake Another

Unbelievably we watched a local fishing in the gap between the shipping lanes – not good to have outboard failure.........

On channel sixteen. We listened to a Singaporean accent on the radio to a chum “Are you listening on channel one zero”. “I’m listening on channel ten”. More irate “I need you to listen on channel one zero”. “Would you like me to call you back right now on channel ten???”. Pitch raised and a louder voice “I have been calling you on channel one zero.” “I have been listening on channel sixteen and ten.” Now singing his voice was so high. “I need to know if you are monitoring channel one zero.” The funniest thing was the captain replying had a plummy English accent. “I can assure you I am listening on channel ten.” I think the local now hit his head repeatedly on his desk as all fell silent.
The next conversation had us creased up.
“Hello are you going to pass port to port”
“Yes, that is my intention”
“I’m on the line can you move over a little”
“No”.
Ten minutes later.......
”Hello, this is the captain speaking, I wish to speak to your captain”.
“I am the captain”
“Are you going to move over”
“No”.

LNG as we will call her, (name far too complicated to understand or read) was not going significantly faster than Marlin 88 but radioed to say she wanted to overtake on the port side. Mmmm. It took from 10:42 to 11:42 exactly.
