Hartpury Watermill is in private ownership, with no public access, but there are very good views from the road. Dating from the 17th century, it is likely there was a mill here from before the time of the Domesday Book, probably built in the 12th century, now a Grade II listed building. Once driven by the River Leadon, it was a substantial building with two undershot water wheels, three pairs of stones, a fireplace on the first floor and six corn bins above. Only the wheel that is visible from the road exists today, it measures four point three metres and ceased working during the Second World War. However, a Gloucester engineer restored it in 1982.
