White Bay, Jost Van Dyke

As the famous song goes "Sitting on the floor of the bay"

Quick check, anchor set nicely

We left Little Bay for the exhausting mile and a half journey passing Great Harbour to anchor in White Bay, home of the famous Soggy Dollar Bar. We dropped the anchor where we should but as we went backward to set it, the depth below the keel said 0.1 metre. Quick snorkel to have a look and there was Beez sitting three inches from the floor of the bay. Up anchor, move twenty feet, reset and 0.8 metre below us in clear sand.

Below this chap was cunningly disguised

We snorkeled the reef near us and this brain coral was the most perfect we have ever see, the size of a dustbin lid. A little blenny playing in the sun.

A whole blanket of anemones, not a Nemo in sight though

After lunch it was time to leave Beez Neez to go ashore for the serious part of the day

To buy a Painkiller in the Soggy Dollar

Somehow it's the best from it's birthplace. Bear agrees

When it all gets too tiring there are plenty of beds available to sleep it off

We strolled to the next bar where Gertrude left Bear to mix our own drinks while she went for a bath, hair shampooed, time to do an Ursula Andress

Then it was time to return to Beez for liver, bacon, onions and a glass of vino, a game of backgammon, a shower and an episode of Numb3rs (yes- that's how it's spelt) - what a day

ALL IN ALL HAD TO BE ABLE TO SAY "BEEN THERE AND GOT THE T-SHIRT"
