We dragged our ill selves to the park muttering something about filling our lungs with fresh air for a couple of hours. I would have been just as happy filling my lungs with air from Billingsgate fish market, so long as I was sitting down and no physical effort was involved. There was much sneezing and sniffing from Mark, Kate and Jack, and in my case, much coughing, all to feed the birds – I hope they appreciate it.

Bear was the only “well” and smiling member of the group

The birds were keen enough and Jack did his best

We ran out of food and watched a bit of preening. Interesting to see one of the cygnets sporting some pink feathersmust be one of the escaped flamingos from Florida

Grandpa enthusiastically went on the train with Jack, who managed a smile. The rest of us found ourselves quietly tree-leaning

Time to leave the birds to their courting and go for supper

I was always told to feed a cold and starve a fever – at least Jack perked up and Grandpa had fun
