Day 5, Hoople and I Lose My Crown

Up and ready at six this morning. Here in Canada it is a long weekend and to ensure we get the swim called Hoople - known for its high yield, high weight fish, our hooks were wet by 06:20.  Hoople is not for the faint hearted when it comes to setting up, soon achieved with much help from Jason. Steep slope, feet in water and very close together, now another fish behind, it took a couple of cups of tea to smile and see the funny side.  I am beginning the day two behind Bear in total caught, worse after he landed his first of the day by 06:40.

With such a small 'beach' Bear had to work 'neat' with his first chap. After weighing in at sixteen pounds, the very polite fish took himself back into the water

At 07:10 I caught a lady weighing in at twenty three and a bit pounds. At 07:20, almost in fly fishing style I had a very feisty sixteen pounder. Some fight I had to land a silly little ten pounder a half an hour later. Then a dry spell until a quarter past ten when I got a fifteen pounder. I am now one fish up on the tally. I can report that I have got used to our beach and working at close quarters with Bear.

At eleven o'clock Bear caught his PB (personal best) a gorgeous twenty eight and a half pounds, taking my crown for biggest fish

To add insult to injury just before we packed up, Bear caught this thirty one pound Brutus of a fish. Very hard for me to say well done through gritted teeth. Not only am I behind in weight, my flurry to get ahead in numbers now sees the tally tonight as eleven all. I'm not growling - MUCH. The last picture must go to the new champ.
