Today I am very annoyed with the Australian Beta agent. I ordered and paid for a new injection pump from him on the 28th of August. He had advised me that there was one in Melbourne and I think I very reasonably assumed that it would only take a few days to have it shipped to Sydney. However, on my arrival in Sydney I rang the agent to be told that it should be here by Friday, which I thought a little suspicious as it should well and truly have been in Sydney by then. Come Friday, the pump had still not arrived. This morning I rang the agent to be told that in fact there had been no pump in Melbourne, that it had to be shipped from Japan, and would not be in Sydney until Wednesday. Given Glenn's track record I will be very surprised if it arrives by then.

I am tempted to continue without it; however, seeing as we will have to do a fair bit of motoring from Southport to Moreton Bay and then up the Brisbane River to get to my brother's wedding, I think it would be unwise to leave here without a reliable engine.

Another minor annoying factor in my life just now is that I managed to get a stye in my left eye on the way from Twofold Bay to Port Jackson. Needless to say, this has been quite painful. I mention this unpleasant subject as it is a reality of the cruising lifestyle, especially when sailing relatively long distances single-handed, that personal hygiene can be a challenge (I suspect that in this instance my bird bath regime might need some adjustment.) The infection is starting to resolve itself but it has not improved my grumpiness index.

So for now we are stuck in Sydney waiting for the critical engine part. I tell myself that in the big picture it is a minor set back. If the pump does get here on Wednesday then a departure date of Thursday will still be possible. So, while I am a bit grumpy .

All is well.
