At anchor Hobsons Bay, Port Phillip
Wind: W, F2 – slight breeze Sea: calm Swell: nil Weather: overcast
The purpose of our visit to Melbourne was to catch up with my brother Mark, niece Issie, and nephew Archer. Over the past week I have managed to meet up with Mark a few times and Issie twice, most recently yesterday at the Royal Brighton Yacht Club. Unfortunately
Archer has been out of action with a cold for the last week so he has thus far been unable to join us.
In order to facilitate these family gathering, on Tuesday we moved alongside the Ferguson St Pier in Williamstown where we stayed for a couple of nights, moving back to anchor in Hobsons Bay Thursday, then alongside the Royal Brighton Yacht Club on Friday where
we stayed the weekend with the hope of being able to take family for a sail on Sunday. But the weather on Sunday was cold and windy with showers threatening, not exactly suitable for a pleasurable sail so we had lunch at the yacht club instead. Afterwards
I was able to give Mark, Issie and Mark’s partner, Amanda a short tour of Sylph.
This morning we departed the Royal Brighton and headed back to anchor in Hobsons Bay. My immediate plan is to stay here overnight and proceed back to the Ferguson St Pier tomorrow. Having fulfilled my pleasant family duties, I am now focusing on continuing
on our way to Adelaide; however, the weather does not look like it wants to cooperate for at least another week. So, for now we will enjoy what Melbourne has to offer, likely including catching up with Mark, and maybe Archer, at least one more time.
All is well.
