I am pleased to say that the wind did increase to a nice comfortable force 3-4 though it remained in the NNW which has made for a close beam reach for the last 24 hours, that is if we wish to sight Gough Island tomorrow. Actually, a close beam reach is a nice fast point of sail in these relatively light winds, so I am not complaining. At our current speed we should make landfall around 0800 which would be perfect as it would give us a good ten hours of daylight to sail by and have a good look. According to Sailing Directions, South Africa keeps a meteorological and science station there which monitors VHF so I might try giving them a call.
All is well.
