Cape Otway

Noon Position: 38 50.0 S 143 18.3 E We have at last made it past Cape Otway, and at long last we have enjoyed a period of fair winds, albeit for only a short while and then a bit on the light side. We now have fresh headwinds and we are punching into the seas under a single reefed main and the staysail. A front is expected to pass through around 22.00 so can expect conditions to get worse before they get better. Once the front has passed over, the wind is forecast to swing into the south west. Hopefully it will shift far enough around to allow us to ease sheets and reach for a while. All is well. |
