149 27.8 E We’ve enjoyed a brisk and relatively comfortable run since leaving Flinders Island. Sylph’s freshly painted clean bottom has allowed her, while close reaching to the steady west nor’west breeze, to maintain an average speed of close on seven knots. The night passed uneventfully, with a near full moon in a clear sky lighting our way, and now we have raised the south-east coast of Victoria. The wind is easing and by evening I expect we will be countering head winds. Hopefully they will remain relatively light. All is well. |
