An Inconvenient Truth

This afternoon I went for a long hike out to the dungeons, a rock formation outside of Bonavista formed by a sea cave, the roof of which has fallen in.  I also explored the surrounding countryside and intended to make it out to the lighthouse and the place where John Cabot first landed in Newfoundland but sore feet convinced me to cut my hike a short.  The headland out towards Cape Bonavista supports an amazing variety of flora, all of it very stunted due to the harsh weather conditions, but I was impressed by the changing variety over very short distances.

This evening I presented a copy of Al Gore’s book, “An Inconvenient Truth” to the local library here, also released on www.bookcrossing.com, so if you want to follow this book the ID is 181-5364259 .

The wind seems to have died down quite a bit over the last few hours so we are currently looking good for departing tomorrow.
