Shortly after posting yesterday's log entry, a zephyr of a breeze came in from the SE, to which we set mainsail and code zero and shut down the BRM. The wind remained light for the rest of the day and night, but sufficient to keep Sylph moving, mostly at two to three knots but for a short period late in the afternoon at four to six knots. Given the conditions, Sylph has posted a very satisfactory day's run.

This morning we were approaching Wilsons Promontory and the low drizzly clouds that had accompanied us for most of the night gave way to fog, with visibility down to less than a hundred meters. As the fog arrived, so the wind departed. I handed the code zero and flashed up the BRM.

We have now rounded Wilsons Promontory, the first time I have done so without being able to see it. On the other side we have found a light breeze and improved visibility, about half a mile. So the motor is quiet, the big red code zero is back up and we are making good three knots.

A hundred miles to Port Phillip Heads. ETA Melbourne remains sometime Wednesday.

All is well.
