As expected we have made a good day’s run. The breeze gradually freshened overnight and now we are running wing on wing before a fresh breeze, with two reefs in the mainsail and about sixty per cent of the headsail. White caps are all around, Sylph has a bone in her teeth, as the sailor’s expression goes, and the wake hisses astern. We are approaching the northern end of Fraser Island and I am procrastinating about whether to head towards Gladstone for a few days, or keep on going. For now I think I will head in the general direction of Gladstone and see how I feel when we get closer, which, at our current rate of progress, should be tomorrow afternoon.

All is well.
