Quietly Preparing
Position: Moored Rushcutters
Bay It has been a relatively quiet week. I continue a few boat chores; as always attending to the odd spot of rust, plus repairing some damage to the paint on the aft side of the mast caused by the batten cars when the mainsail is reefed, a minor problem that I must eventually find a long-term solution to, perhaps when we next pull the mast. And yesterday Ada and I went for a short sail down the harbour towards the Heads and back in a pleasant E'ly breeze. My co-skipper, Chris, gets back into town tonight and if the weather cooperates we will try to give the spinnaker its first sea trial tomorrow afternoon. On Friday we will move Sylph alongside the CYCA marina, into the 'pond', to take advantage of the free berthing that comes with the entrance fee. The final safety check is booked for 1100 that morning. And hopefully most other race preparations are complete, at least all the important ones. Eight days to go (and seven 'til Xmas). All is well. |
