The trades have freshened to force five so that we are now back down to 50% jib and two reefs in the main. The wind has also veered a little such that our course is closer to SW than S. It looks like a low pressure system off Cape Leeuwin has thrust a trough well north and is distorting the usual flow of the trades. At this rate we will end up back in the longitude of Amsterdam Island before we can once more turn our bows east towards Australia. We may even end up crossing our north bound track and thereby close Sylph’s doughnut around the Indian Ocean.
While the ride is a bit bouncy, the weather is much more comfortable.
All is well.
