Weather: overcast, mild

Yesterday we weighed anchor and motored over to Portobello Bay because the forecast for today was for fresh NE winds and where we were in Careys Bay is open to the NE. Also, my cruising notes say that the holding in Careys Bay is not that great, so I thought it a seamanlike precaution to shift to a bay with better shelter and better holding.

The winds have indeed picked up from the NE this afternoon, so I am glad we moved. Tomorrow, however, the winds re forecast to shift into the NW then SW and Portobello Bay is rather open to the NW. So, at high water tomorrow morning I reckon I will hightail it back to Careys Bay.

The parts for the Hydrovane have been ordered. The Hydrovane people advised that delivery time to NZ is usually about five working days. I am a little skeptical that my parts will be here in that sort of timeframe but hopefully they will arrive within a couple of weeks and not a couple of months.

All is well.
