This afternoon we came to anchor at the entrance to Gulnare Inlet on Whitsunday Island, just opposite Hamilton Island. It has been a bit of a slow run. What I thought was going to be an easy 24 hour sail has ended up taking two days, four hours, and forty four minutes, with an average speed of three knots. On the plus side we have enjoyed some very pleasant sailing, with flat seas all the way, and often a steady breeze that has kept Sylph moving along at a steady and comfortable clip. I was hoping to get to anchor last night and we actually arrived off the Whitsunday group at around midnight, but then the wind went calm and we spent the night drifting around just south of Haslewood Island. However, after a fickle start, a steady wind returned mid-morning, which allowed us to make our way west, short tacking our way through the narrow Fitzalan Passage between Hamilton and Whitsunday Island, and subsequently to anchor this afternoon.

Now that we are back in mobile phone range I can post a few photos.

All is well.
