Gabo Island

Position: 37 35.0 S
149 55.0 E We spent the first part of last night comfortably heeled to double reefed main and partial jib, driven along briskly into a fresh breeze while dodging oil rigs. By midnight the breeze was easing which allowed full sail again and clear of the oil fields, a slight easing of sheets. This morning the day dawned clear and the breeze light. With a gale warning in the offing we motored for a short while during the forenoon watch; however, the return of a gentle breeze had the jib unfurled and the BRM subdued after only a 30 minute run. At noon we are close abeam Gabo Island light. Later tonight we hope to be at anchor in Twofold Bay. All is well. |
