Nieces in KI

E This morning we left the RSAYS marina to head for American River, Kangaroo Island at the invitation of my nieces, Ella and Kaylah, who are enjoying some of their holiday time there before heading back to Queensland in the new year. We got under way at 0930, motored out of the yacht basin and Outer Harbor then attempted to sail. I set the main and the code zero but unfortunately the wind was too light so we had to motor-sail for about an hour before there was sufficient breeze to push against the small swell that was still running after yesterday's fresh SW winds. Now we are sailing at a very sedate two knots. At this rate we will take almost two days to get to KI, but I expect we will get slightly stronger breezes this afternoon and we can always motor for a bit if absolutely necessary. For now, while the sailing is slow, it is peaceful and I am content. All is well. |
