We have spent the last several days alongside in Portland waiting for a favourable weather pattern. One looks like arriving on Thursday with moderate northerlies turning west on Friday, then back to light northerlies on Saturday.
With the additional complication of COVID rules I am not sure where to head for just at the moment. As mentioned in my previous post, Kingscote has a test centre but it is only open on weekdays and this next weather pattern will have us arriving there on Saturday, which obviously means a wait of a couple of days before I can be tested. The problem this presents is that Kingscote is open to the north and the winds are forecast to be fresh from the NNE over the weekend.
Another option I am looking into is Victor Harbor which also has a test centre. It offers shelter from the north but I suspect will always be subject to a southerly swell and unlikely to make for a comfortable anchorage. On the other hand, I have never stopped there before so it could make for an interesting stopover.
And, of course, I could sail straight through to Adelaide but this also has its challenges. Not to worry, we will work something out.
All is well.
