I have spent the last couple of days at Noake’s Shipyard having Sylph’s
furler problems looked at. Bad news, the lower bearing is shot. The
verdict is that the most cost effective thing to do is to replace the whole
furler. Ouch! Oh well, the old one did a lot of miles, has endured a great
deal of punishment, and has served Sylph well, so I cannot complain. My
objective over the next several months remains to get Sylph seaworthy again,
so that we can seriously contemplate the next serious voyage. From there we
will see where destiny leads.
All is well.
