The head's door facelift has been completed and the door is now back in place affording its occupants their customary essential privacy, but now with a nicer view of the back of the door.

Last Tuesday I took Sylph out for a day sail in a fresh NE'ly with friend, Ada, which made for a nice change from swinging off the mooring doing boat maintenance. However, unfortunately this led to a new maintenance job when the gear shift lever broke at the end of the day as we were returning to Rushcutters Bay to pick up the mooring. This necessitated shutting the engine off as we approached the mooring but with Ada's help we picked up the mooring first go despite the fresh breeze. (The engine controls have since been replaced.)

The other project in train for the Sydney to Hobart has been designing some crew shirts for Sylph and having them made up. The first prototype shirt has rolled off the production line today in time for me to wear to the CYCA media launch on Wednesday. The plan is to have another nine made up in time for the Classic Regatta on the weekend of 8 December. A few people have contributed to this project but Ada has been particularly helpful with suggestions for the design and running around organising the company to embroider the shirts. Thank you Ada.

The major commitment for this week is the CYCA media launch. I have been invited to join the panel of skippers which include John Winning, skipper of the 'fastest maxi in the world', Andoo Commanche, line honours winner of 2022 Sydney to Hobart; Sam Haynes, vice-commodore of the CYCA and skipper of Celestial, overall winner of the 2022 Sydney to Hobart; Rupert Henry, skipper of Mistral and winner of the 2022 Sydney to Hobart two handed division; and Jules Hall, skipper of Disko Trooper and winner of this year's inaugoral J/99 Australian championships. Then there is me and old Sylph. Good grief! - just a bit of a contrast.

36 days to S2H race start.

All is well.
