Wayne and I enjoyed a good chin wag, talking about many things, mostly related to boats and particularly about Wayne’s recent adventures circumnavigating Australia, which he will complete once he gets back to Tasmania.
This morning I arose with the sun a little before six. The tide was still flooding quite strongly so I had a final short gam with Wayne over a cup of tea waiting for the stream to ease. At 0612 we let go our tethers to Ambler, motored out of the inlet and once clear of the entrance channel turned into the light breeze and set some sail. Since then the wind has been light and variable, with patches of calm. We have sailed when we can and motored when we can’t. Right now it is calm and we are motoring.
The forecast is for a fresh SW breeze later this afternoon which should speed us over the remaining fifty miles and have us back at the Squadron in the early hours of tomorrow. So, thus far events have proceeded according to plan and we are well placed to make it back to Adelaide in time for my brother’s birthday celebrations tomorrow evening.
All is well.
Addendum: some of my more dedicated readers (?) might have noticed that the posts for the last couple of days have only just been uploaded. Unfortunately there was a problem at our service provider's end which has now been fixed, so hopefully future posts will be uploaded in their usual timely manner.
