With a high pressure system moving over New Zealand for the next few days, we have once more ventured forth out of Hawke Bay in our bid to get to Stewart Island this summer. The winds are light and there is still a considerable swell running after several days of strong southerly winds so, for now, we are motor sailing. We are just rounding Cape Kidnappers and Windchase, who departed Napier a little before us, is now about a mile ahead.

Our plan is to get as far south as the current weather system will allow before the next fresh southerly swings up the coast. Hopefully, we will do better than our last attempt.

All is well.
