Today was a maintenance day, primarily spent on repairing a broken batten. This afternoon, after I had fixed the batten, I noticed that the wind had swung into the south east. Sylph's dedicated forecaster tells me that the wind is expected to go into the west for the next few days, consequently I was planning on leaving tomorrow morning, but with the wind light in the south east the thought occurred to me why not go now. The idea of a comfortable warm night of unbroken sleep at anchor weighed against the restless desire to be sailing and making some more miles. I decided to get Sylph ready to sail, see how conditions were then and see how I felt.

Sylph is now almost ready for sea; the dinghy is lashed on deck but the heater has yet to be extinguished. The comforts of a night at anchor are winning out I think. I will set the alarm for an early departure in the morning.

All is well.
