Looking Good for Christmas
Noon Position: 35 36.2 S 150 44.2 E I am glad to say that the wind behind the front eventually filled in to a nice steady fresh breeze and we were able to run before it under a clear blue sky at a spanking six knots with, for a short while, two reefs in the main and the jib partially furled. Subsequently, the winds lightened overnight and had us heading offshore several miles seeking better wind and to allow for a more restful night, though in hindsight I wonder whether I have allowed us to fall foul of the East Coast Current, good for animated fish heading south but not for more substantial sailing vessels heading north. Regardless of the current, the wind is now freshening a little and we are making good four to five knots, so that slice of Christmas cake is looking good. All is well. |
